f you need new tires after heeding Greeley's advice, go to Les Schwab Tire Centers. And it doesn't hurt that the owner wrote the bible of tire retailing: "Pride in Performance -- Keep It Going." Les Schwab Tire Centers prides itself on continued customer service; it sells tires and batteries and does alignment, brake, and shock work at about 365 stores in Alaska, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. With a story that rivals Moses', founder and chairman Les Schwab was reared in a logging camp and went to school in a converted boxcar. In 1952 he bought a tire shop that grew into Les Schwab Tire Centers. The firm, owned by Schwab and his family, plans to open about 20 stores a year.
